Bihar Assembly speaker, culture minister hail GI tag recognition for 3 traditional state products

Patna, June 14 (UNI) Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar on Sunday hailed the granting of Geographical Indication (GI) tags to Bawan Buti weaving of Nalanda, Patharkatti stone craftsmanship of Gaya and Pidhiya Painting of Bhojpur, describing them as outstanding symbols of State's rich cultural heritage, folk traditions and creative excellence.
The GI tag, he said, would provide legal protection to the unique identity of these products and significantly enhance their prospects for branding, marketing and exports.He congratulated the people of Bihar, artisans, weavers and artists on the achievement.
Kumar said that due to the state''s positive policy initiatives, Bihar''s traditional arts, crafts and cultural heritage are receiving renewed recognition at both national and international levels.
