Big scope for mining sector in Maharashtra: Shinde

Mumbai, Dec 1 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday expressed the belief that there is a huge scope for the mining sector in Maharashtra and the largest steel plant in the country can be started in a remote area like Gadchiroli.

He also said that by opening a mining research institute in the state, the problems in this business should be removed and employment should increase along with the revenue of the state.

Water conservation officer, clerk arrested for accepting Rs 8 53 lakh bribe

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Feb 6 (UNI) A water conservation officer and A clerk of Sub Divisional Water Conservation Corporation of Aurangabad were arrested on Monday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau Jalna unit in Maharashtra's Aurangabad while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,53,000 from the owner of a construction company.According to ACB sources, one of the accused Rushikesh Pralhadrao Deshmukh (34), is the sub-divisional water conservation officer of Vaijapur, presently handling the charge of the sub-divisional water conservation office of Aurangabad. the other accused is a clerk Bhausaheb Dadarao Gore.They said that the Parbhani-based construction company had been awarded the contract of constructing a KT weir at Gavali-Pivali in the Parbhani district and another construction work at Govidpur in the same district.
