New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra replaced Aamir Khan as new ambassadors of the 'Incredible India' campaign of the Tourism Ministry, sources said. Though a final announcement is yet to be made, sources in the film trade said that the government had decided on the names of the Big B and Priyanka for the post. They said that the official announcement will be made after January 26. Amitabh is currently the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism and has helped increase tourism footfalls in the state. Priyanka has established a niche for herself as an acres and has also garnered international acclaim through her role in the US TV series ‘Quantico’, for which she recently won the peoples choice award, the first Indian to achieve this distinction. Officials in the Tourism Ministry said Amitabh and Priyanka were among several celebrities from the film world who were in fray for the position of the brand ambassador of 'Incredible India'. The various names in the fray for the post included Deepika Padukone and superstar Akshay Kumar. At a recent function in the capital, Akshay had said he would love to be the brand ambassador of the campaign. "Why not. I would love to be the brand ambassador of Incredible India. It is a good thing,’’Akshay said at an event to promote his latest film ‘Airlift’, based on the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the 1990 Iraq-Kuwait war. Aamir was removed as brand ambassador of the campaign after he had suggested that India is experiencing growing religious intolerance. On his removal from the campaign, Aamir has said that it was government's prerogative to decide whether they need a brand ambassador for any campaign, and who it would be.
