Bhopal to host 39th Junior Rowing Championship

Chandigarh, Sept 12 (UNI) Bhopal will host the 39th Junior Rowing Championship to be held at Bhopal (MP) from October 2 to 7. With a view to selecting the state team, the Chandigarh Rowing Association conducted State Junior Rowing Championship to select the team.

According to CRA Secretary Rajiv Sharma the following rowers were selected by the selection panel for the Bhopal Junior Nationals.

Boys: Single Sculls(1X) Predhuman Singh. Double Sculls: (2X) Savinay Singh and Prabal Dalal. Coxless fours (4-) Gurcharan, Varun Antil, Rajat Kumar and Sudarshan. Reserve: Ayushman.
Coach-cum-manager: Arvind Sehgal.

In the State Junior Rowing Championship for selection, Preduman Singh used his oars strongly to earn the first position in the single sculls event. He covered the distance in 3.57:24. Savinay Singh and Prabal Dalal crossed the finishline first in the double sculls by clocking 4.35:06
In the coxless fours category, Gurcharan, Varun Antil, Rajat Kumar and Sudarshan timed 3.45:98 to take the top position.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Rowing Association felicitated Pooja, who donned India colour in the Jakarta Asian Games.
