Bhopal is symbol of 'Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb', hopefully will reject Pragya Thakur: Mehbooba

Srinagar, May 19 (UNI) Asserting that Bhopal is a symbol of ‘Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb’, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti hoped that 'the city will reject Pragya Singh Thakur, who is a terror accused and eulogized Mahatma Gandhi’s 'assassin'.

Ms Mehbooba, who is the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleged that Pragya Thakur doesn’t deserve their representation or respect.

“Hope Bhopal, a city that’s symbolised Ganga Jamuna tehzeeb rejects her. A terror accused who eulogised Bapu’s assassin doesn’t deserve their representation or respect,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

The PDP president few days back lashed out at the BJP candidate from Bhopal parliamentary constituency for her comments on Nathuram Godse.

“Gandhi ji certainly didn’t die to let history repeat itself. BJP should be ashamed for endorsing a candidate who praised Bapu’s assassin. He was a terrorist and those who admire him are nothing else but Nathuram Godse 2.0 in the making,” Ms Mehbooba had tweeted on Friday.

Hitting out at the BJP for endorsing Pragya Thakur, Ms Mehbooba said she takes pride in being called an anti-national when a Hindu fanatic, who gunned down the father of the nation, is hailed as a nationalist.

“I take pride in being called an anti national when a Hindu fanatic who gunned down Gandhi ji is hailed as a nationalist. Aisi nationalism aur desh bhakti humaray bas ki naheen. Yeh aapko Mubarak,” she tweeted.
