Bhongir MP Kiran Kumar Reddy urges media to avoid speculative reporting after ‘off-the-record’ arrests

Hyderabad, Jan 16 (UNI) Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday appealed to media organisations to refrain from publishing speculative reports, especially in the name of “off-the-record” stories, and stressed the need for fact-based journalism.
In a video statement issued on the occasion of Kanuma, the MP said the developments following an off-the-record report aired on a prominent channel and the subsequent arrests were unfortunate. He said he shares good relations with the media and expressed regret over the situation that led to the arrests.
Referring to recent public developments, Kiran Kumar Reddy said the issue gained seriousness after a Cabinet Minister stated that he was allegedly asked to kill someone by poisoning. He said earlier news reports were largely based on complete evidence, but now reporting was increasingly driven by speculation.
