New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside the Bombay High Court's order and upheld the extension of detention for completion of investigation with respect to the alleged Bhima Koregaon violence case.
A division bench of the apex court, headed by Justice SA Bobde, passed the order after hearing the arguments and submissions made by the Maharashtra State Government lawyers and accused side.
"We set aside the Bombay High Court order. We upheld the extension of detention for completion of investigation in the case," Justice Bobde said in his order.
Accused persons, including, Surendra Gadling and other activists will not get default bail and will now have to seek regular bail from the Maharashtra trial court.
The accused persons had knocked the doors of the top court challenging the Bombay High Court order refusing to extend the 90-day deadline to file the chargesheet against them in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence case.
"The appeal filed by the State of Maharashtra is allowed," the bench of the top court said in its order.
