BHEL commissions 500MW thermal plant in WB

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today said it has successfully commissioned another 500MW thermal unit in West Bengal.
The unit was the second 500MW set to be commissioned at Sagardighi Thermal Power Station (TPS) Phase II project in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, the public sector unit said in a statement.
The first unit of the 1,000MW project was commissioned earlier in December, 2015.
The project has been set up by the state-owned West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL).
Significantly, BHEL has so far contributed 83 per cent of the total coal-based generating capacity of WBPDCL.
Presently, the PSU is also executing three units of 40MW each of Rammam hydro electric project of NTPC Limited in the state.
