New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) Boxing Federation of India (BFI), in their maiden initiative reached out to its players through video conferencing to guide and motivate them when all sporting activities around the globe have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President Ajay Singh took stock of their preparations amid a national lockdown till April 14 to fight the pandemic.
"This is a challenging time for all of us and is all the more a reason for us to take care of ourselves...stay fit, continue with the exercises as directed by the coaches and try to maintain your weights as much as possible," Singh told boxers.
"We will tide over this crisis soon and get back to the ring but staying motivated in the meantime is absolutely necessary," he added.
Nine Indian boxers have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics at the Asian qualifiers earlier this month held in Jordan.
However, the Olympics this year has been postponed to next year amid rising concerns over the spread of coronavirus around the globe claiming thousands of lives.
In India, 25 deaths have already been reported apart from more than 1000 positive cases.
