Bernard Mendy scores on debut for East Bengal at 2-0 win over Aizawl FC

Barasat, Feb 5 (UNI) Frenchman Bernard Mendy made his presence felt on his first appearance for Kingfisher East Bengal as the struggling football giants returned to victory trail beating newcomers Aizawl FC 2-0 to jump second spot at 6th round of Hero I-League here today.
The home side had to wait for first seventy-one minutes to break the wall erected by the Aizawl outfit playing for the first time in top tier football in the country and both goals came through header.
Bikash Jairu headed in the 72nd minute of a ball from substitute Joachim Abranches, and former French international nodded in the 74th after another substitute Cavin Lobo advanced an aerial ball from left flank.
