Bengali film Macher Jhol, a storyline on people's aspiring dreams

Kolkata, Aug 20 (UNI) Macher Jhol, a popular Bengali movie, is a tale of two generations based on mother-son bond.
A movie, which is based on people’s aspiring dreams, was released on August 18.
Bengali film themed on Macher Jhol, the traditional Bengali film curry, plays a crucial role in director Pratim D Gupta's new film on mother-son bond.
The movie is directed by Pratim D.
Gupta and featured veteran actress Mamata Shankar, Paoli Dam and Ritwick Chakraborty.
Other popular actors who were roped in for Macher Jhol are Sauraseni Maitra and Sanjoy Nag.
Pratim had been one of the celebrated movie critics and it was just a few years back that he also started film-making.
His film-making journey has been tremendous till now, with his last film, Saheb Bibi Golam, becoming a blockbuster in Bengal.
The man is back again with yet another film and this time it is pure gluttony! And what's more, it is about probably Bengal's most loved dish, Macher Jhol.
"It a tale of two generations, but not necessarily about the contrast in food habits.
It's more about the change in ideologies and how the old and the new look at life differently," Pratim said.
"Macher Jhol' also stands for Bengaliness, simplicity and is a representative of the basic necessities of life," he said.
For anyone who is a Bengali, or is a non-vegetarian growing up in Bengal would know the signifance of Macher Jhol or fish curry.
The simple dish is love.
With veggies accompanying the fish, this is nutritious and a regular dish that all Bong households make.
For any Bengali, macher jhol is a gastronomic delight.
