Bengal remembers Ritwik Ghatak on his 90th birthday

Kolkata, Nov 4 (UNI) Filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak whose cinemas inspired new age directors across the country was fondly remembered on his 90th birthday today.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has paid glowing tributes to the Bengali filmmaker and script-writer.
"Your going ended the boldness in the film-making," Ms Banerjee tweeted while she remembered the legendary movie director.
Born on November 4 in Dhaka in 1925, Ghatak died at the age of 50 in 1976.
To celebrate the occasion filmmakers, artists and cinema students will assemble at ICCR, Satyajit Ray Auditorium.
The programme will be organised by Rtiwik Memorial Trust and Cine Central Calcutta.
Actor-cum-writer Shaji from Chennai arrived here to talk on "Ghatak's Influence in South Indian Parallel Cinema".
A book written by Ghatak "Cinema and I" which was reprinted will be released to mark the occasion.
A documentary film named, "Ritwik Kabya" directed by Sadeep Bhattacharjee, produced by Shubhabrata Ray, will be screened as a tribute to the maestro.
"Amar Lenin" and "Durbar Gati Padma" the two sensational and revolting documentary directed by Ghatak will also be screened.
"Nagarik: the very first film directed by Ghatak, which was not released during his lifetime has now
been restored and developed into full HD version, will also be screened.
