Kolkata, Nov 15 (UNI) The state government is planning to set up a state-of-the-art
centre for cybercrime called West Bengal Cyber Security Centre of Excellence,
which would also house a helpline.
Complaints against crimes related to internet (both computer and mobile-linked)
from people across the State would be accepted here.
Both the helpline and the centre of excellence would work on a 24×7 basis.
The centre would initially be housed in New Town, and later moved to Sector V in
Salt Lake, according to an official of the state government.
The formal name of the helpline system is ‘Complaint and Grievance Redressal
Management System (CGRMS)’, expressions of interest for which were called on
October 10 last.
The selected company would have to set up and manage the helpline, and provide
training to those handling the calls.
Meanwhile, an international conference on cybersecurity " International Cyber
Summit " will take place in the city on November 16.
It is being organised by a private information technology (IT) company with
NASSCOM, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and a few others also
providing support.
The objective of the summit is to create an environment conducive to
cybersecurity and will focus on ways of developing cybersecurity, information
security and data security.
