Bengal Govt to ensure proper signs and markings on all its roads

Kolkata, Jul 19 (UNI) With an aim to improve the safety and comfort of journeys, the Bengal Government has given its decision to ensure that all roads in its jurisdiction should follow the latest provisions of Indian Roads Congress (IRC).
Many of the roads though already have in place all rules and regulations.
As per the directions, the State Public Works Department (PWD) will ensure that all rules are complied with for all roads under its jurisdiction in Bengal.
The department has directed its engineers to complete the work as early as possible in all its division.
The jurisdictions of roads must be properly indicated at an interval of 2.5 km on both sides of a road.
All roads across the State must be fixed with cat’s eyes (reflectors) for visibility at night.
The department has further directed the putting up of cautionary signs, signage on facility information, signs for disabled persons, route marker signs and other useful information signs, wherever needed.
