Kolkata, Jul 17 (UNI) In its bid to conserve energy, West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim launched the Municipal Energy Efficiency Programme (MEEP), with the aim to enable energy-efficient water supply across the state.
MEEP is a collaboration between the West Bengal Government and the PSU, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
A total of 39 urban local bodies (ULB) are currently in the programme, and 1,161 water pumps are are being replaced with energy-efficient variants. The other ULBs will take part in the programme soon.
