Becoming coach of J&K cricket team an honor for me: Kapil Dev

Becoming coach of J&K cricket team an honor for me: Kapil Dev

New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev reckons that becoming the coach of Jammu and Kashmir cricket team will be an honor for him.

The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) CEO Ashiq Ali Bukhari has also confirmed that the state association has offered the role of chief coach to Kapil.

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the three-day Adventure Sports Asia Expo 2018, the 59-year-old said,"Whatever I could, I will do for the game of cricket. There is a need to promote cricket in various states in the present times and if JKCA wishes to appoint me as their coach, it would be an honor for me."

However, Kapil further said he could not be a full-time coach of JKCA but could possibly train the side in few sessions and could share his experiences with the players.

Notably, JKCA has also urged Irfan Pathan to join the side as a player and a mentor. Pathan, who is struggling to make a comeback in the national side from a long time and has also been sidelined from the Baroda side, is likely to feature from J&K team.
