Beating India at home would be tough challenge: Morgan

Beating India at home would be tough challenge: Morgan

Mumbai, Jan 9 (UNI) England's limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan reckons that beating Team India at their own backyard would be a tough challenge for his side in the upcoming ODI and T20 series. Talking to mediapersons here, the 30-year-old said,"We are ready for the ODI series against India. Playing against India in India is special experience. They are a strong side and hard to beat at home. I think, that's something we are looking forward to as a side (and) it's going to be a challenge." "Despite being a limited-over series, we think we can gain enough experience from it," Morgan, who along with his deputy Jos Buttler attended a net practise session here, said adding that playing in the recently concluded Test series have handed them the knowledge of the conditions which would be helpful in the upcoming series. Replying to a query on facing a team led by recently appointed skipper Virat Kohli, the England skipper said, "Kohli is a natural successor. One thing we do as a side, (is) that we don't look at the opposition that much and focus firmly on ourselves and on what we need to do in this series." Commenting on the ODI series, Buttler said, "The ODI series will be completely different from the five-day format. We have got a completely different squad for the ODI. But, you have to re-adjust and get ready for the matches accordingly." Further speaking on playing against India at their home, the vice-captain said,"It's a great challenge (playing India in India). We are very lucky to come here and play as probably (it is one) of the best places to play in front of the crowds, it is a great challenge (and) everyone in our side is looking forward to that." Notably, England, who were comprehensively beaten 4-0 in the Test series, will lock horns against the hosts in the first ODI in Pune on January 15.
