Beaten by jailor, Chatra divisional jail inmates stage dharna

Chatra, Sep 13 (UNI) More than one and a half dozen inmates of the divisional jail here sat on a dharna today inside its premises, alleging that they were beaten by the jailor and his assistant.
The family members of the injured inmates said thatl the jailor had demanded bribe from the inmates for shifting them to other jails, but when they failed to pay him he thrashed them mercilessly inside his office. The jail staff had yesterday night also beaten up Diwakar Kumar and Omprakash Prasad, after which the inmates united and sat on the dharna.
The family members have said that unless the senior official reach the spot, the agitation will continue. On the other hand the jailor alleged that the inmates have given out a fake story. He said that due to regular raids they were scared and have hatched a conspiracy to malign the image of the police.
