BCCI Secy Jay Shah takes over as Asian Cricket Council president

New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah was on Saturday appointed as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Shah replaced Nazmul Hasan of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in the top job of the continental body. The position is rotated among the full members of the Asian boards every two years.
'The ACC is delighted to announce that Mr Jay Shah, Hon Secretary, BCCI has been appointed as its new President,' the ACC said in a tweet.
'Mr. Shah is the youngest person ever to be appointed to the office. We look forward to working under his energetic and dynamic leadership to take cricket in Asia to new heights,' it added.
The ACC is Asia's regional administrative body and it currently consists of 24 member associations.
Arun Singh Dhumal, the BCCI treasurer, congratulate Shah on twitter after his appointment as the ACC president.
'Congratulations @JayShah on taking over as President of Asian Cricket Council. I'm sure ACC will achieve greater heights under ur leadership and the cricketers of the entire Asian region will benefit. My best wishes for a successful tenure," Dhumal tweeted.
At present, Shah biggest challenges would be to conduct the Asia Cup, a tournament which has serious diplomatic contours because of the participation of traditional rivals, India and Pakistan.
The 2020 edition of the tournament was postponed to June 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
