New Delhi, Mar 20 (UNI) The proposed shortening of the 50-over Champions Trophy to a T20 tournament (ICC) has created differences between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
As per reports, the ICC has floated the idea of changing the format of the Champions Trophy from its next edition, scheduled to be held in India 2021, however, the proposal hasn't gone down well with the Indian board who is in the favour of keeping the format intact.
Significantly, absence of tax exemption from the Indian government over ICC events that were scheduled to be hosted in India has made the world cricket governing body unhappy. Also, the ICC looked for alternative countries to host the event, which further widened their differences with the Indian board.
