BCCI declares Indian team for first three ODI’s

New Delhi, Sept 10 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee announced the Indian team for the upcoming five match one-day internationals (ODI) for the Australia series in a press release today. The selection committee named the team for the first three one-day internationals commencing from September 17. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the India Cricket Team for the first three ODIs of the upcoming five-match ODI series against Australia. The Committee also named the India 'A' squad for the two four-day games against New Zealand 'A',” a statement said. Skipper Virat Kohli will lead the squad, while the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested. While Ashwin is playing county cricket for Worcestershire in the Division two of the English couny, Jadeja has been rested since the Test series in Sri Lanka last month. MSK Prasad, Chairman of the selection committee, said, “The team for the three ODIs against Australia has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the Board and accordingly R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested. The team's performance during the Sri Lanka tour was outstanding and players like Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, who performed very well are being given an extended run and this will in turn supplement our approach, to build a strong reserve strength, as we prepare for forthcoming tours.” However, fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav made it back to the team, who were rested after the Sri Lanka Test series. The first three ODIs will be played in Chennai, Kolkata and Indore, while the last two ODI’s has been slated in Bangalore and Nagpur for the final two games, followed by a three-match T20I series Indian team: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhone, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvender Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami. Australian Team: Steve Smith, David Warner, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Patrick Cummins, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa.
