New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) The Delhi unit of the Congress party on Sunday demanded action against culprits in the Bawana fire incident which claimed lives of 17 people.
"It ( fire at a factory in Bawana) is a sad incident. People affected must be given all kinds of assistance. Culprit be punished as per the law," Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said in a tweet.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal late last night has announced Rs five lakh compensation for the kin of 17 people who died in the fire incident at a factory in Delhi's Bawana industrial area.
Mr Kejriwal also announced Rs one lakh each to those injured in the incident.
"Delhi government will give Rs five lakh as compensation to the family members of 17 people who died in this tragic incident and Rs one lakh to injured," the Chief Minister told reporters after he reviewed the situation where the incident occured.
Mr Kejriwal said that the bodies of the deceased were sent to hospital for post mortem and the injured undergoing treatment.
"Seventeen people died and two were injured. We have ordered an inquiry in the matter', he stated.
