Bavli: An eye opening contemporary film on girl child facing problem of child labour

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) In the backdrop of the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, debutant director Navin Kumar has come up with a film highlighting the problem of child labour. "Bavli", a children's feature film inspired by an incredible true story of a small girl falling victim to the problem of child labour, was screened today in the national capital. Directed by Navin Kumar, the director of the national Theatre group Purvabhyas Natya Sansthan, ‘Bavli’ is inspired by a true story. Based on the concept of Beti Bachao Beti Padao’, ‘Bavli’ promotes the concept of saving and educating a girl child by another child in a unique way. ‘Bavli’ is the story of a small girl child Laxmi who gets deprived of her childhood and a feeling of love after she becomes a victim of the social evil of child labour. However, with time her circumstances undergo a change and and she gets started on her journey of enjoying life. He not only gets rescued by a small boy Ganesh but also finds a loveable family for her. Produced by Prairna Agarwal and Vinaysheel, the movie is filled with fun for children. It is a must watch as it open eyes of the society to the problems of girl children forced into child labour due to extreme conditions in life. Speaking to reporters at the special screening of the film here this evening, the Director of the film, Navin Kumar said the aim of the film was to spread the message of "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" to a large section of people. ‘’The team has put in a lot of hard work in making the movie. We wanted to spread the message "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" to a large section of people so as to create awareness about the positivity of having a girl child,’’Navin said. Navin said the film took 45 days to complete and four months of editing by the 'Bavli' team has produced a must see marvel that will touch the chord of emotion in every human being. Vinaysheel, the producer of the film said they planned to hold a screening of the film for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘’The team endeavours to show the one and a half hour film to Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" is the dream project. We also plan to release the flick "Pan India." The film’s writer and co-producer Prairna Agarwal said the ‘Bavli’ team plans to screen the movie across as many screens as possible. ‘’Though many documentaries have been made in the past on the girl child this is the maiden time that a film has come out particularly dealing with the subject of child labour so rampant in our society,'she said. The film has been extensively shot in Delhi and brings out the best in characters portraying character roles, Prairna said. The movie is truly in an embodiment of care and affection for the girl child lacking in our society where preference for male child is paramount. It dwells upon the fact that child labour is a crime and affluent families or even middle class families should refrain from domesticating girl child as slaves. Additionally, the movie also somewhere hints towards PM's 'Swachhta Abhiyaan'. The film’s story seeks to convey a message that if given opportunities, girls can flourish educationally and carve a niche for themselves in society. It conveys the message that if everyone were to care for the girl child, there wouldn't be need to thrust schemes and plead to care for them. The movie is an eye opener and a must watch for cinegoers. It is a commendable debut by director Navin Kumar. UNI SY/AR SHK 2029
