Battle for Jharkhand: 98 nominations filed for third phase

Ranchi, Nov 22 (UNI) A total of 98 nominations were today filed on for the third phase of polls in the state on 17 seats where voting will be held on December 12.
A maximum of 11 nominations was filed in Hatia followed by 9 in Barkagaon and 8 each for Mandu and Ichagarh.
The last date of filing of nominations on these seats is November 25 while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on November 26. Candidates can withdraw their names till November 28 while voting on these seats will be held on December 12. Counting of votes takes place on December 23.
More than 56.06 lakh people are eligible to vote in this phase.
The seats were elections will be held in the third phase included Koderma, Barkatha, Barhi, Mandu, Hazaribagh, Simaria (SC), Barkagaon, Ramgarh, Dhanwar, Gomia, Berma, Ichagarh, Silli, Khijri (ST), Ranchi, Hatia and Kanke (SC).

Shillong, April 15 (UNI) Vigilance by the police and paramilitary forces has been mounted along the Meghalaya-Assam inter-state boundary and the international border that the state shares with neighbouring Bangladesh in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for April 19.
Meanwhile, in a significant joint operation conducted on Monday, the troops of BSF Meghalaya Frontier and Meghalaya Police seized a huge quantity of dry betel nuts from the bordering area of the South Garo Hills district of the state.
