Battle for Jharkhand: 28.51 pc voter turnout till 1100hrs in second phase of polls on 20 seats

Ranchi, Dec 7 (UNI) An average voter turnout of 28.51 per cent has been recorded in the first four hours of polling till 1100hrs on the 20 seats where voting is underway for the second of the five-phased Assembly elections.

In the first four hours, Manjhgaon recorded highest turnout at 36.73 per cent while Jamshedpur West was the lowest at 20.30 percent.

Constituency wise voter turnout is as follows: Behragora 28.50 percent, Jamshedpur East 21.01 percent, Jamshedpur West 20.30, Ghatshila 26.80 percent, Potka 27 percent, Chaibasa 32.56 percent, Jugsalai 27.2 percent, Manjhgaon 36.73 percent, Jaggannathpur 30.02 percent, Manoharpur 30.79 percent, Chakardharpur 31.5 percent, Sisai 32.25 percent, Simdega 26.92 percent, Kolebira 28.50 percent, Torpa 30.21 percent, Khunti 28.85 percent, Mandar 31.15 percent, Tamar 29.35 percent, Saraikela 29.12 percent and Kharsawan 31.64 percent.

Voting on 18 out of 20 seats will end at 1500hrs, while it will continue till 1700hrs in Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West.

Meanwhile, a report from Gumla said a clash erupted between some people and the security forces in booth no. 36, in which at least half a dozen policemen were injured and a youth was killed.

However, an official confirmation on the casualty is awaited.
