Barring south Kashmir, life returns to normal in valley after daylong strike

Srinagar, Nov 27 (UNI) Barring south Kashmir, life returned to normal on Tuesday in the valley after remaining crippled due to a daylong strike called by separatists against the killing of militants and death of a civilian during the last about a week.
However, normal life also remained affected on Tuesday in poll-bound areas in the valley following a strike call given by separatists against the Panchayat polls, which are being held in nine phases in the state. Polling is being held for the fourth phase of panchayat elections in 639 polling stations in Kashmir division on Tuesday.
A police official said that there were no restrictions in any part of the valley though security forces remained deployed in strength to maintain law and order in sensitive areas, particularly south Kashmir, where three militants were killed in two separate encounters on Tuesday. An Army soldier was also martyred in the encounter.
