Hyderabad, Oct 22 (UNI) Cash transactions came to a grinding halt at Andhra bank branches in Telangana state as All India Andhra Bank award employees’ Union participated in 24-hours strike call given by the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) and the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI).
Over 2500 andhra bank employees working in about 600 branches across the telangana state has participated in in the strike opposing the Merger and closure of public sector banks leading to privatization, according to Andhra Bank Award Employees Union Telangana state ( ABAEUTS) General Secretary Samad.
However, State Bank of India has already said the impact would be minimum as most of its employees are not members of the participating unions.
Massive protest demonstrations were also held before head office and at all Zonal offices at Karimnagar, Mehaboobnagar, Warangal and Nizamabad in the state.
In Hyderabad , centralized and massive protest demonstrations were held before Andhra Bank head office by employees working in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad .
Today’s all India bank strike is a told success in Andhra Bank across the country as over 10,000 AIBEA members of All India Andhra Bank Award employees’ Union has participated in the strike, Samad added.
