Bangladesh urges China to lower loan interest rate

Dhaka, Sep 13 (UNI) The government has asked China to reduce the interest rate on existing Chinese loans to 1 percent and prolong the payback time to 30 years, media reports said.
Chinese loans currently have interest rates between two and three percent and a 20-year payback duration.
For lowering interest rates, Economic Relations Division Secretary Shahriar Kader Siddiky acknowledged to The Daily Star that the Ministry of Finance's ERD addressed a letter to Beijing earlier this week.
