Dhaka, Jul 14 (UNI) Former minister of Bangladesh and one of the
organisers of the Liberation War Shahjahan Siraj died of multiple
ailments on Tuesday.
He was 77. He left his wife, a son and a daughter to mourn his
death.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul
Kabir Rizvi said that he died at Evercare Hospital, formerly known
as Apollo Hospitals, in Dhaka about 3:30pm in the afternoon.
Siraj, elected lawmaker for four times from Tangail, was a former
minister of BNP during its 2001-2006 tenure.
Siraj is better remembered for his role in 1969 uprising and 1971
war of independence of the country.
He was one of the founders of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal formed in
1972.
He joined BNP in 1995 when the party was in power.
