Bangladesh bounces back after defeating Sri Lanka in SAG women's soccer

Shillong, Feb 7 (UNI) Bangladesh women's football team today bounced back in their 12th South Asian Games women's football tournament defeating Sri Lanka 2-1.
Bangladesh striker Srimoti Krishnarani Sarkar scored twice as Bangladesh notched up their first win of the tournament against Sri Lanka. The Islanders started off cautiously against the favourite Bangladesh side and were placed on the back foot for the early part of the match.
Led by skipper Sabina Khatun, the team displayed an improved performance after their last outing against Nepal which they lost 3-0. The first prominent chance to take a lead came in the 13th minute when Khatun's long ranger whizzed away from goal. Five minutes later, her midfielder Maynum Marma attempted a shot that glided safely into the arms of Sri Lankan goal keeper S Subasinghe.
