Bamboo Industry to come up in Telangana with Rs 22.43 cr

Hyderabad, May 23 (UNI) Bamboo Industry will come up in Telangana state with an investment of Rs 22.43 crores, an official release said here on Wednesday.
The central government would provide financial assistance whenever the state government would submit a detailed project report (DPR) on the proposed Bamboo industry, the official release added.

This was announced by Telangana Minister for Forest and BC welfare Jogu Ramanna after discussing with Central Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers welfare department Secretary Pattanayak in a meeting held at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University here on Tuesday.
In the meeting, the central team agreed for the proposed bamboo industry in the state.

"Under forest Department, cultivating bamboo in 6,000 hectares and the department having a capacity to supply 47 metric tonnes of bamboo daily", Telangana State Forest Development Corporation Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Chandan Mitra explained to the central team.
The team had asked the forest department to send the DPR through the Plywood Industry Research and Training Institute (PWIRTI).

Notably, the state government had recently de-notified bamboo from the list of trees that need transit permit from the department, in an effort to promote its cultivation outside the reserve forest areas.
