Bakshi stadium, nearby Iqbal park closed for civilians, searches, frisking intensified

Srinagar, Jan 23 (UNI) Unprecedented security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful Republic Day (RD) functions on January 26 in the Kashmir valley, where security forces have put up naka checkings, conducting random searches and frisking.
Bakshi stadium, venue for the main RD function in the valley, and nearby Iqbal park have been closed for civilians and large number of security force, wearing bulletproof jackets and holding automatic weapons, were standing guard.
Main gates of the stadium have been closed with barbed wire and only security force vehicles were being allowed to go inside the stadium after proper checking.
