Bagging IIFA award is a big dream which came true: Sara Ali Khan

By Sanya Pandey

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) With just two films old in Bollywood, Sara Ali Khan who has won the hearts with her candour, wit and charm, on Friday said winning the 'Best Debut Actress' award at 20th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) is like a big dream which I never thought will be fulfilled.

When asked Sara that if she ever thought of winning the prestigious IIFA awards, the 'Kedarnath' fame told UNI, 'Never. It was always a dream. It was my dream to even attend IIFA. But realising that I am an award winner here, so this is a big dream which I never thought will be fulfilled. It was really really special, as IIFA was coming home to Mumbai.'

On what IIFA means to her, Sara said, 'It means a lot to me. More than anything, award functions in our industry are about celebrating people, it's not about validation, because you don't need that. One should know within whether he/she is good or not. So award for me is to celebrate each other's work now and then.'

'So once in a year when the entire fraternity comes and celebrate each other, then it feels really good. And I am very lucky that I am a part of it,' she said.

Sara who has become the cover girl of nearly every magazine, and has a fantastic line of projects in her kitty, when asked if at this point she has achieved her desired stardom, the actress said, 'Not at all. I am not chasing stardom, I am chasing acting and my dream is to perform different roles every time. So I don't think I will ever succeed winning that dream. The dream is that I should do acting till my last breath.'

Sara, who belongs to the Pataudi family, when asked if she carries that baggage to sets, she said, 'Never, because if I carry that baggage and pressure, I won't be able to perform. Everybody knows I come from a film family, I can't apologise for that or change that. I can just go out and have honest work and do fun. This is what I am trying to do.'

The actress will be next seen in Imtiaz Ali's romantic drama opposite Kartik Aaryan, and David Dhawan's 'Coolie No 1' remake, opposite Varun Dhawan.

When asked about the style of filmmaking of both the directors, she said, 'I am a huge David sir fan. I have watched 'Biwi No 1', 'Coolie no 1', 'Hero no 1'. I am really privileged to be a part of this world--this larger than life cinema world, so different from Imtiaz sir' world. The favourite thing about my job is that I get to do different things.'

'Imtiaz sir is the most nurturing director. He makes the character realisation with full honesty. David sir's set is a different world full of colors, energy, vibe. I am touchwood so lucky to be a part of both the worlds,' she added.

The 20th Homecoming edition of the star-studded IIFA Awards will come alive across the world on October 20 at 2000 hrs on Colors TV.
