Dhaka, Dec 16 ( UNI) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a virtual meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, over the Novel Coronavirus situation.
Although neither side has clarified the agenda of the meeting between the two heads of the government, analysts said the two countries need to move beyond the "conventional diplomacy," to make relations more successful.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said, 'Nine MoUs in different sectors could be signed in the virtual meeting between them. However, nothing has been finalised yet. Officials are still working on the matter.'
Earlier, the ministry officials said four MoU could be signed at the meeting.
During this virtual meeting between the two Prime Ministers, the pre-1985 Chilahati-Haldibari rail link between Bangladesh and India would be reopened, after 55 long years.
It was closed in 1965 during the Indo-Pakistan war. Bangladesh was then part of Pakistan.
Mr Momen said the meeting would address all major bilateral issues, including Dhaka water sharing, co-operative cooperation, border killings, trade deficit, communication, electricity and the Rohingya crisis.
