Rampur (UP), May 22 (UNI) Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and MLA Mohammad Azam Khan, who was released from jail after getting interim bail from the Supreme Court, on Sunday indicated that he might attend the session of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly starting from Monday.
Talking to reporters here, the former minister said, "Assembly is not a new place for me. I will cross the threshold of the Assembly for the tenth time and there is no question of not going there. People have elected me and I will go to the Assembly again and again to raise their issues. I am trying to take oath of membership of the Assembly, but I am not feeling well. Will make efforts to go there."
Azam & his son and MLA from Suar seat, Abdullah Azam, did not attend the SP Legislature Party meeting held in Lucknow. The meeting was chaired by SP chief and SPLP leader Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday.
He said, "The Supreme Court has fulfilled the demands of justice without looking at religion, caste and creed. I am thankful to the judiciary of the country. The stories of injustice done with me will be narrated after me.
"I got protection only from the judiciary. I also express my gratitude to Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, what he has done for me even blood relations cannot do that," he added.
On the question about differences with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Azam said, "There should be a base for being angry with Akhilesh and I myself am without any base right now.
"The Enforcement Directorate asked me how many factories I own in foreign countries, how many hotels, bungalows and bank balance. This is the lone history of the independent India that despite being an MP, house was not allotted to me. Even if bulldozers were run on the University, its ruins will become a part of history," he added.
Azam, along with his Abdullah, went to meet his supporter and SP worker Guddu Masood, who is currently lodged in Rampur jail. He is the 'Mutawalli' of the enemy property, which has been included in Maulana Ali Jauhar University.
