Ayushman Bharat is world's first digital, paperless & cashless scheme: J P Nadda

Ranchi, Sep 18 (UNI) Union Minister for Health J P Nadda today said that Ayushman Bharat Yojana was the world’s first digital, paperless and cashless scheme which will reach to 55 crore people.
Addressing the press at the project building after reviewing the preparations for the visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who would launch the ambitious health insurance scheme on September 23 from Ranchi he said 10.74 crore families as per the socio-economic census of 2011 have taken as the baseline for the scheme which comes to roughly about 50-55 crore people who will be provided health insurance of Rs 5 lakh.
“The project will be rolled out in the entire country from September 23,” he said, adding that separate states are following separate models for its implementation. He said that while Jharkhand was following the hybrid model, 18 others had adopted plus model while few others insurance model. He said that the best advantage of the scheme is that money will not be given to the person but it will be transferred from one institution to another. The funding pattern for the project has been set in the ration 60:40 in which 60 per cent will be the share of the central government while remaining 40 will be borne by the state government.
