AYUSH keen to take yoga to global level: Naik

Nashik, Feb 3 (UNI) Yoga is not just a therapeutic measure, but also a vital part of the ancient Indian culture and AYUSH is keen to take yoga to the global level, said Shripad Naik, Minister of State for AYUSH and Health and Family Welfare. Speaking at the International Yoga Festival held at Om Vidyadham, Trimbakeshwar near here yesterday, the Minister said, "Yoga has greatly contributed in shaping Indian way of life. The centre will provide help for development of yoga centres." "In fact, we have appointed a special committee of experts to extend a helping hand in propagating yoga on national and international level," he added. Earlier, Mr Naik performed the bhoomi pujan ceremony of yoga and Unani centres, established by Ayush. The festival has been jointly organised by Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Arogyabharti and Hindu Swayamsevak Sangha. Chairperson of the Trimbakeshwar Municipal Council Vijayatai Laddha, yoga expert Dr Vishwasrao Mandlik, Shriram Savrikar from Poddar Ayurvedic College, Mumbai, civil surgeon Dr Suresh Jagdale, national vice-president of the Vivekananda Kendra Nivedita Bhide, Dr Ashok Vaishnarye, Saumitra Gokhale and Ravi Kumar Iyer were also present on the occasion.
