Ayodhya structure was built by Babur: Muslim side

New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) The Muslim side on Friday submitted and quoted from the Baburnama to the five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, and stressed that the structure at Ayodhya was built by Babur.
"I am quoting Baburnama. I am also saying that Baburnama's versions/translations, which indicated that the structure was built by Babur," Dr Rajeev Dhavan, senior lawyer appearing for the Muslim side told the apex court's bench.
Dr Dhavan also submitted to the bench that the plaintiffs cannot simply rely upon gazetteers selectively and leave out inscriptions which support that Babur had constructed the mosque.
Dr Dhavan said, reports cannot be selectively left out. Babur came to India when he lost Samarkand which was important for him. He started while he was a small boy.
Dr Dhavan showed certain exhibits which have Arabic and Persian inscriptions on the structure.
He also cited legal consequence of allowing Janmabhoomi claim. The real reason for the Janmasthan argument was to canvass two regimes -- idol regime and bhoomi regime.
"It was the faith among people which unites everybody. The apex court is here is to consider our case. We all have faith in the judiciary to solve and take a decision which will be beneficial to all the parties connected to the case," Dr Dhavan had submitted to the apex court.
The other four judges, who were a part of the constitution bench, were: Justices S Arvind Bobde, Ashok Bhushan, DY Chandrachud and S Abdul Nazeer.
From August 6, onwards, the top court has been hearing the case on a day-to-day basis, after the mediation process, conducted by a 3-member mediation panel, in the Ayodhya Babri Masjid land dispute case failed.
The apex court is hearing a batch of petitions challenging the 2010 Allahabad High Court judgement trifurcating the disputed site at Ayodhya.
Hindu Mahasabha side had already completed their arguments and submissions before the apex court.
At present, the Muslim side is arguing the case and canvassing it's pleadings and submissions before it.
Friday's submissions and arguments by Dr Dhavan were incomplete and they would continue before the same bench on Monday.
