New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, said on Friday it will hear the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case on January 10.
"Further orders on hearing Ayodhya land dispute case will be passed by a 3-judge bench on January 10," a division bench of the apex court, also comprising Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, said.
Before giving the date for an hearing in the case, the top court bench said “is this the Ram Janmbhumi matter? Further order will by passed by an appropriate bench on Jan 10.”
On Friday, the Court no.1 was jam packed with advocates, litigants and journalists in anticipation of some orders for setting up a bench or day to day hearing of Ayodhya dispute.
The apex court had last year rejected a plea by Muslim parties to refer Ayodhya land dispute to a five-judge constitution bench. All the respondents and petitioners related to the case were present inside the courtroom much before the time. The hearing which went on for 15-20 seconds could not take place as the top court fixed January 10 for hearing the case.
