Ayodhya case: Kalyan Singh appears before trial court

Lucknow, Jul 13 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and senir BJP leader Kalyan Singh on Monday appeared before the Special CBI court here, in connection with the Ayodhya case.

Mr Singh, 88, gave his statement, 28 years after the demolition of religious structure which took place in Ayodhya on December 6,1992.

Sources said the court recorded the statement of Mr Singh, who is also the former Rajasthan governor, under section 313 of the CrPC.
Mr Singh is among the 32 accused , who have been charged by CBI for the demolition of the controversial structure.
The Special CBI court of S K Yadav recorded the statement in presence of lawyers of CBI and the accused.
Most of the accused have recorded their statements except former deputy prime minister L K Advani and senior BJP leaders M M Joshi along with some others.
Supreme court has asked the special court to complete the trial by August next .
