Auto industry welcomes return of strong and stable govt

New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) Auto Industry welcomed the return of a strong and stable government at the Centre.

The industry has expressed hope and optimism about the government taking appropriate steps for driving economic growth of the country and reviving the demand cycle.

Further, the industry is hopeful that the government accords the status of ‘priority industry’ for the auto industry.



SIAM president Rajan Wadhera said, 'I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the thumping victory in the elections. With the new government in place, I am hopeful that India will soon be on the path of economic growth, leading to revival of the demand cycle for all consumer goods including automobiles.'

Mr Wadhera added, 'I am hopeful that the government accords priority industry status to the auto Industry and the industry looks forward to working closely with the government towards driving competitiveness and growth of the Indian auto industry.'



SIAM Director General Vishnu Mathur added 'As of now, the industry is going through a difficult period with a slowdown in demand across all segments. We hope that initiatives by the new government will help revive the demand. Also, the industry looks forward to working with all concerned ministries for a smooth transition to BS VI.'



He re-iterated that SIAM would continue to closely partner with the government in ensuring an even greater role of the auto industry in building the nation, responsibly.

The ruling BJP is all set to begin its second five-year innings under the leadership of Mr Modi with the BJP achieving a landslide victory in elections to the 17th Lok Sabha in the 543-member Lower House.
