Aus suspends extradition with HK, opens citizenship window for city residents

Canberra, Jul 9 (UNI) Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Thursday suspended his country's extradition treaty with Hong Kong and offered Australian citizenship for those, who have been longing to leave the place, which has worked as a bridge between the conservationist China and the liberal world, since the pre-1970s era.
Speaking at a press conference in Canberra, Mr Morrison said China's new national security legislation for Hong Kong constitutes a ''fundamental change in our circumstances, with respect to our extradition agreement with Hong Kong,'' CNN reported.
''We have formally notified Hong Kong and advised the Chinese authorities accordingly,'' he added.
