Audio visual program on ‘Guru Dutt’ on May 5

Panaji, Apr 25 (UNI) The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), Cinephile Club and Anil Kane, Cinephile Member, will organise an audio visual program on Guru Dutt titled the ‘Grey Dusk of Guru Dutt’ on May 5.
Addressing a press conference at OLD GMC Building in the city, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) Vice Chairman Rajendra Talak said the program was a celebration of the genius of one of India’s most creative filmmakers, through the audio visual presentation of slides, scenes and songs from his much acclaimed films from Baazi (1951) to Sahib Biwi aur Glulam (1962) interspersed with the expert commentary by Manohar Iyer, a film expert.
Guru Dutt, with his inborn predilection towards darkness, took an affinity to embrace despair both literally and psychologically. On one hand inspired by the Film Noir Cinema of Hollywood, he made shadowy crime thrillers replete with lyricism and romanticism and on the other hand he carried forward his sensitive style of storytelling and made classic films which were suffused with subtlety and symbolism and imbued with dark poetry of the death wish.
