Attack on IVth estate: Shimla Media delegation apprises Guv

Shimla, Jul 28(UNI) More than 50 agitated mediapersons today met Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Dev Vrat, apprising him about the July 26 incidents, in which some police personnel humiliated and assaulted a senior journalist, while he was covering police action on innocent students in a degree college here.
The delegation was led by Press Club Shimla President Dhananjay Sharma and comprised Shimla-based journalists, who showed resentment and sought action against the police atrocities being unleashed on the working journalists. Press Club members presented a memorandum to the Governor, regarding misbehaviour of Shimla police with their fraternity member.
The Governor took the matter seriously and assured them to take appropriate action on the matter. Later, the presspersons also met Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at the State Secretariat and raised the issue. The Chief Minister also assured the mediapersons to take action against the erring police officials.
