Attack on girls has shaken conscience of nation: Prez

Sirohi (Rajasthan), Dec 6 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday admitted that women's safety was a very serious issue and the incidents of demonic attacks on girls had shaken the conscience of the country.

Addressing a national convention on ‘Empowerment of Women for Social Transformation’, he said "a lot of work has been done on this subject but much remains to be done."

Referring to the heinous attacks on girls, he said it was the responsibility of every parent to instil among boys the sense of respect for women.

He was speaking at the headquarters of Brahma Kumaris in Mount Abu, Rajasthan.

The President said the theme of the national conference was very relevant. Brahma Kumaris are carrying out empowerment of women for social change in the true sense. He emphasised that a society based on equality and harmony could only be possible by empowering women.
