ATP Challenger: Gunneswaran, Mukund win in contrasting style

Chandigarh, Sep 17 (UNI) Second-seeded Indian Prajnesh Gunneswaran had a smooth sailing into the singles third round with straight sets win 6-3, 6-2 over Shuichi Sekiguchi of Japan in the $ 162,480 ATP Challenger in Kaohsiung (Taiwan) on Tuesday.
The match lasted just 52 minutes, Gunneswaran, who fired nine aces and committed three double faults won four out of seven break points. Sekiguchi had four aces to his credit and committed two double faults.
He saved three out of seven break points, besides winning one break point out of one.
Gunneswaran, ranked 29th, will meets14th seed Enrique Lopez Perez of Spain, ranked 205.
In a separate match, Sasikumar Mukund struggled to get past Gonecalo Oliveria of Portugal in three well-fought sets by 7-6 (8), 3-6, 7-6 (6) in a first round match which lasted two hours and 41 minutes, both players fired eight aces each.
Mukund committed four double faults, while Oliveria committed just one double fault. Mukund saved four out of seven break points and won two break points out of seven. Oliveria saved five out of seven break points and won three out of seven break points.
Mukund will now meet 10th seed Marc Polmans of Australia in the second round.
