Kabul, Sep 19 (UNI) At least seven people were killed while 85 injured in a truck bomb blast near a government hospital in southern Afghan city of Qalat-e Gilzay early Thursday morning, TOLO news reported.
The balst occured around 6 am and a number of office buildings and houses were severely damaged.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) office is also located close to the hospital but officials say no NDS employees have been hurt in the incident.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast and said the target was the NDS office.
“Ambulances have also been called from Kandahar city to transfer the wounded to hospitals in Kandahar province. Most of the victims have been taken to private hospitals,” officials added.
Atta Jan Haqbayan, head of the provincial council, said earlier that “20 people were killed and 60 others were wounded in the blast, and the number of the dead may rise.”
