ASTP conducts study on state of Cooperative Vocational Education & Training for GIZ

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) Association of Skill Training Providers (ASTP), a registered non-government, not-for-profit society, formed as a national skill alliance of training service provider companies, conducted a study on Cooperative Vocational Education and Training (VET), on behalf of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), GmbH.
The study was conducted in two industrial clusters -- the automotive component cluster in Aurangabad, Maharashtra and, the electronics and manufacturing cluster in Bangalore, Karnataka to analyse the current practices of cooperation between Chambers/Associations/Companies interested in imparting cooperative VET, and state and national government bodies mandated to approve the industrial initiatives.
In order to facilitate the cooperation between different stakeholders involved in vocational training programs, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), GOI has signed an implementation agreement with GIZ, the executing agency for the German Government for executing the Indo-German Programme for Vocational Education and Training (IGVET).
IGVET aims to bring the public and the private sectors together to achieve conditions conducive to create and improve cooperative, workplace-based Vocational Education and Training (VET) in India.
This study conducted by ASTP focused on the actual situation pertaining to the implementing agencies and the partners at different stakeholder levels of Dual System of Training (DST) & National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), their roles and responsibilities and the processes followed by them in both the schemes.
The study recommends higher levels of cooperation among the employers, the training providers and the government agencies implementing the schemes, according to a statement here on Monday.
Talking about this assignment Navanit Samaiyar, CEO, ASTP said, "We are happy to extend our services to GIZ to ascertain and analyse the ground realities for the implementation of IGVET and VET. We understand that in today's hi-tech environment, imparting the right vocational skills training is the only way for forward for the employees, the businesses and the economy at large.
''We also understand the on-ground complexities owing to the involvement of multiple agencies. This study will throw light on the areas in which these agencies need to cooperate further to make these schemes a success."
