New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress were both leading on 4 seats each in the early trends of the Assembly bypolls in 12 constituencies of 10 states.
According to the Election Commission statistics at 1200 hrs, in Gujarat's Morva Hadaf constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Suthar Nimishaben Manharsinh was leading with 12735 votes while Congress' Katara Sureshbhai Chhaganbhai had secured 4750 votes.
In the initial rounds of counting of votes for three assembly seats in Rajasthan, Congress is leading on two and the BJP on one seat. In Rajsamand constituency BJP's Deepti Kiran Maheshwari was leading with 49,078 votes whereas rival Congress' Tansukh Bohara has so far got 47,306 votes.
A close fight was seen in Jharkhand's Madhupur constituency as BJP's Ganga Narayan Singh was 3463 votes ahead of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's Hafizul Hassan. At 1200 hrs, BJP had secured 24294 while JMM got 20831 votes.
The grand-old-party's candidate Basanagouda Turuvihal was leading from Karnataka's Maski seat with 32,322 votes while BJP's Pratap Gouda Patil was on second spot with 20,906 votes so far. In the second constituency of the state -- Basvakalyan -- the situation was vice-versa with BJP'sSharanu Salagar leading with 12,023 votes while Congress Mala B Narayanrao trailed with 6,291 votes.
In Madhya Pradesh Damoh constituency, Congress party's Ashok Kumar Tandon took the early lead with 5977 votes, however, BJP's Rahul Singh was not far behind as he too has so far secured 4497 votes. At 1200 hrs, there was only a margin of 1480 votes between both the candidates.
In a neck-to-neck contest, Nationalist Congress Party's Bhalke Bhagirath Bharat was leading with 11,941 votes in the Maharashtra's Pandharpur constituency. BJP's Autade Samadhan Mahadev is just behind at 11,303 votes.
In Telangana, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was ahead with 30333 votes while Congress had so far bagged 22,445. BJP's Dr. Panugothu Ravi was on the second spot with just 2710 votes.
The hill state of Uttarakhand was also witnessing a close fight between the BJP and the Congress with the saffron party's Mahesh Jeena leading with 3890 votes while INC's Ganga Pancholi has so far got 3017 votes.
On Mizoram's Serchhip seat Zoram People’s Movement party is leading with 6169 votes. Mizo National Front was on the second spot while Congress on third and BJP on fourth with only 156 votes.
The trends were yet to be disclosed in Nagaland.
