Assault case registered in Hamirpur

Hamirpur(HP), Jan 17 (UNI) Hamirpur Police has registered a serious criminal case involving extortion, physical assault, robbery, and criminal impersonation against an unknown person on basis of a complait made by Javid Ahmad Loni, a resident of Kupwara (J&K) presently residing in Hamirpur.
SP. Hamirpur Balbir Singh said that the complainant has reported that he was being harassed by an individual known as “Katna” and his associates over a monetary dispute, during which the accused intimidated him through deceptive phone calls, with one person impersonating as police personnel. On 13 January 2026, the victim was lured to a location on the pretext of a business deal, where he was surrounded by 6–7 persons armed with sticks, assaulted, and threatened.
Acting on the telephonic instructions of one person the accused forcibly transferred ₹14,300 via Google Pay and robbed ₹4,500 in cash. SP said that accordingly an FIR has been registered at Police Station Sadar Hamirpur few days back under Sections 333, 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 351(2), and 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

ED raids British citizen's house over alleged financial irregularities around Madrasa

Sant Kabir Nagar, Feb 11 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence of Maulana Shamshul Huda, a British citizen originally from Sant Kabir Nagar district.
A three-member ED team from Lucknow reached his house in the Meeth Mandi area under Khalilabad Kotwali limits around 8 AM. The officials seized the mobile phones of family members present at the house and began questioning his wife and daughter-in-law. His son, Tausif Raza, was reportedly not present during the raid.
